Austin Scott, who kicked off the “Hamilton” tour in Pittsburgh on Jan. 1, exited the title role with Sunday’s performance. His departure has opened the door for Edred Utomi, who takes over as Alexander Hamilton Tuesday.
On Instagram Sunday, before his final performance at the Benedum Center, Downtown, Mr. Scott said, “Tonight, I take my final bow with the Angelica tour. Exciting things are on the horizon but as I look back on my year with this company, I have nothing but love and gratitude in my heart.”
Mr. Utomi had been a standby for the roles of Hamilton, Aaron Burr and George Washington.
The Angelica Tour is one of two companies touring the United States. The other is the Philip Tour. There also are companies on Broadway and in Chicago and London’s West End. A new company, led by creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, opens in Puerto Rico Jan. 12.
