Aspiring dancers will have the chance to learn from industry experts at a summer intensive to be held at the Academy of Dance by Lori in South Hills as part of the ACOYA Dance Project master class series.
The program opens Wednesday with three days of technique and repertory classes taught by former Moscow Ballet soloist Tatyana Makarova. Dancers also can take classes led by former Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre dancer Damien Martinez, hip-hop choreographer Greg Cummings, modern dancer Katie Rose McLaughlin and musical theater and acrobatic instructor Holly Gombita. Students are placed in beginner, intermediate or advanced classes based on age and ability. Classes run from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Contact Michelle Dawson at 412-851-1422 for registration and class placement. One week intensives are $225. Two-week program is $350. Registration ends July 5.

Correction/Clarification: (Published July 6, 2011) A story Sunday about a summer intensive to be held at the Academy of Dance by Lori did not reflect a recent change in teachers. Former Moscow Ballet soloist Tatyana Makarova, founder of Cincinnati Dance Academy, will replace fellow Moscow Ballet member Svetlana Todinova.
