Pittsburgh band Ghost Hounds announces new lineup with singer from 'The Voice'

Pittsburgh blues-rock band Ghost Hounds has announced a new lineup, marking the departures of frontman Tre’ Nation and drummer Blaise Lanzetta.

The reformulated group features SAVNT (born Stephan Marcellus) on vocals and drummer Sydney Driver joining guitarists Thomas Tull (band founder) and Tyler Chiarelli (who replaced Johnny Baab last year), keyboardist Joe Munroe, fiddle player Kristin Weber and bassist Bennett Miller.

SAVNT is a 28-year-old neosoul singer from Englewood, New Jersey, who appeared on season 13 of “The Voice” in 2017 and released his debut album, “Redemption,” in 2018.

“He’s a brilliant solo artist who was doing his own thing,” says Bailey Katler, of PR firm 2b Entertainment. “He met with the band and they fell in love with him, and vice versa. ”

Ghost Hounds will play its first show with SAVNT in the fold on Feb. 16 at the Roxian Theatre in McKees Rocks.

On Jan. 31, Nation posted on Facebook, “For the few who are asking: I have no plans to perform in Pittsburgh over the next 4 months, solo or otherwise! Thanks for wanting to see me! It makes my heart smile! Love Yinz!”

Tull was part of a previous version of Ghost Hounds in 2009 with singer Ty Taylor and guitarist Nalle Colt, who left to form Vintage Trouble. He reformed Ghost Hounds in 2019. One of the band’s first shows was opening for The Rolling Stones at FedEx Field in Washington, D.C.

They have since toured with ZZ Top, Garth Brooks and Bob Seger and performed locally at the Outlaw Music Festival and Maple House Music and Arts Festival.

Their fourth record, “First Last Time,” was released in July. Katler says there is new music and more tour dates coming this year.
