Matchbox 20 moves tour to 2023 ‘out of an abundance of caution’

It’s now looking like Matchbox 2023.

Matchbox 20, scheduled to play The Pavilion at Star Lake in July, has bumped its tour out of 2022 and will now play the venue on July 14, 2023.

The band’s social media post notes that it “made this very difficult decision out of an abundance of caution for members of the Matchbox 20 family, as exposure to Covid-19 could potentially present serious health issues.”

“We are disappointed to have to move the tour into 2023 but are looking forward to playing for all our fans before we know it,” Rob Thomas said in a statement. “We appreciate all your understanding and hanging in with us. We promise we will bring you our incredible show when we see you in 2023!"

All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new dates. Refunds are available at point of purchase. For additional ticketing information, visit www.MatchboxTwenty.com and www.livenation.com.

Among the comments on the band’s Facebook post:

“I’ll be getting a refund… we have arenas and stadiums FULL of people for sports and concerts. Ridiculous.”

“Covid is going to be around forever. Get busy living life.”

This was literally the only thing I wanted for my 50th birthday. Considering my oldest is immunodeficient I completely understand. Upside I guess I’ll remain 49 for another year. Stay well everyone”
