'The Woody Show' will take over morning drive time at The X

Listeners of The X will wake up to a new morning show beginning Jan. 4.

The X (WXDX 105.9 FM) has picked up “The Woody Show,” a nationally syndicated program that bills itself as “Insensitivity Training For A Politically Correct World.” It will air daily from 6 to 10 a.m. with the hosts talking news, pop culture, lifestyle and alternative rock.

“The Woody Show,” launched into syndication in 2017, is led by 45-year-old Mt. Lebanon native Jeff “Woody” Fife, who began his career here at 17 as an intern at B94 in the ’90s. The show, featuring co-hosts and friends Ravey (who was on The X in the ‘00s), Greg Gory, Menace and Sebas, originated at Live 105 KITS in San Francisco before relocating to St. Louis and then LA’s Alt 98.7 in April 2014.

Fife told the San Jose Mercury News in 2007 that he was fired from St. Louis’ KPNT-FM after a running a contest in which women painted their bottoms to resemble Halloween pumpkins.

“The Woody Show” is syndicated by Premiere Networks in more than 30 markets including Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland, Las Vegas, Austin, Kansas City, Raleigh-Durham, Indianapolis and New Orleans.

“The entire 105.9 The X family is excited to welcome Woody back to Pittsburgh,” Abby Krizner, The X program director and current morning host, said in a statement. “Woody and his crew join a strong lineup along with Mark Madden in the afternoons, the best rock and alternative for Pittsburgh, and our unmatched coverage and broadcasts of the Pittsburgh Penguins.”

“My Pittsburgh roots run deep,” Fife said. “I was conceived, birthed and like Mark Cuban graduated high school in Mt. Lebanon. I bleed black and gold. My radio career began as an intern at B94 and thanks to Abby Krizner, Gene Romano and David Edgar it continues on at 105.9 The X!”
