Are there young people out there who want to be an “oldies star”?
TJ Lubinsky, the Cranberry-based producer of the PBS My Music series, is betting that there are, so he is looking for The Next ‘50s & ‘60s Pop, Soul and Doo-Wop Star for a national PBS special in 2022.
“If you’ve ever wanted to be an ‘oldies’ pop, soul or doo-wop star,” Lubinsky says, “this is your big chance to be seen nationwide.”
TJL Productions has created a website, www.doowopstar.com, with guidelines for how groups and individuals can submit a video for audition by the Dec. 24 deadline.
Lubinsky’s My Music fundraising series on public TV features historic musical reunions, archival specials and interviews with hundreds of performers.
