Cinemark, the third-largest movie theater chain in America, will roll out reopenings in the Pittsburgh area and nationwide beginning July 3.
The Cinemark Robinson Township and Cinemark North Hills in McCandless will open their doors first with COVID-19 safety measures in place.
According to the Cinemark website, "As we begin thoughtfully reopening theaters ... you will notice greatly enhanced cleanliness, sanitizing and safety measures at every step of your movie-going experience."
Guests are encouraged to wear facial masks "in all common areas, such as lobbies, hallways, restrooms, restaurants, lounges, game rooms and concession stands." Costume masks that cover more than the nose and mouth are not allowed.
The second week of reopening includes Cinemark theaters in Monaca, Monroeville and Erie. Find a full list of theaters and the new health and safety guidelines at pittsburgh.cbslocal.com.
The theaters will open with "Comeback Classics" such as "The Matrix" and "Mad Max: Fury Road." The first-run, big-name releases of summer 2020 begin July 10 with Russell Crowe in "Unhinged," Disney's "Mulan" on July 24 and Christopher Nolan's "Tenet" on July 31.
