Cinemark to begin reopening local theaters Fourth of July weekend

Cinemark, the third-largest movie theater chain in America, will roll out reopenings in the Pittsburgh area and nationwide beginning July 3.

The Cinemark Robinson Township and Cinemark North Hills in McCandless will open their doors first with COVID-19 safety measures in place.

According to the Cinemark website, "As we begin thoughtfully reopening theaters ... you will notice greatly enhanced cleanliness, sanitizing and safety measures at every step of your movie-going experience."

Guests are encouraged to wear facial masks "in all common areas, such as lobbies, hallways, restrooms, restaurants, lounges, game rooms and concession stands." Costume masks that cover more than the nose and mouth are not allowed.

The AMC Loews at the Waterfront is among the movie chain's theaters set to reopen in July, in the green phase of reopening during the COVID-19 pandemic.
