Christopher Wheeldon's "Brigadoon" has a new lead, with Patrick Wilson replacing Steven Pasquale as Kelli O'Hara's co-star, Playbill.com reports. The New York City Center presentation for Nov. 15-19 is directed and choreographed by the Tony winner for "An American in Paris," who also has cast his "AAIP" star, Tony-nominee Robert Fairchild.
Mr. Wilson, a Carnegie Mellon alum and two-time Tony nominee, will assume the role of Tommy Albright, played by Gene Kelly in film version of "Brigadoon." The actor lately has been seen on screens big and small, starring in "The Conjuring" horror films, HBO's "Angels in America" and in "Fargo" for FX. He was a visiting director for CMU last year, when he oversaw a production of "The Full Monty," one of his starring roles on Broadway. He also performed with Barbra Streisand on her album of duets and in concert at Madison Square Garden.
Tony Award-winner O'Hara plays Fiona and Mr. Fairchild will portray Tommy's pal Harry. Before it was a movie starring Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse, "Brigadoon" premiered on Broadway in 1947. The fantasy musical finds two Americans -- Tommy and Harry -- happening upon a Scottish village that appears for one day every 100 years. Hard as it is for the men to accept that Brigadoon will disappear, saying goodbye is even harder for Tommy, who falls for villager Fiona.
