Pittsburgh poet Jan Beatty reads tonight from her newest book, “Jacknife: New and Selected Poems.” The Carlow University professor will read at the Community Broadcast Center, 67 Bedford Square, South Side.
Ms. Beatty will sign books at 7:30 p.m. and give a reading at 8 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
She directs the creative writing program at Carlow University and also is the host and producer of “Prosody,” a radio show that airs on National Public Radio affiliate WESA-FM. During the broadcast, Ms. Beatty interviews writers about their work.
Her newest book was published by the University of Pittsburgh Press. Her fourth full-length collection, “The Switching/Yard,” was named by Library Journal as one of “30 Books That Will Help You Rediscover Poetry.”
A reception with food, drinks and music by the Cobra Kings with Don Hollowood will follow the reading.
