Ashton Gibbs scored a career-high 22 points and made a career-high six 3-pointers to lead Pitt to a 71-46 victory against Binghamton University tonight at the Petersen Events Center.
Gibbs notched both career highs by halftime as the Panthers (2-0) raced to a 37-17 advantage at the intermission. Gibbs had five threes and 17 points in the first 20 minutes. He made three 3-pointers in the span of 1:45 midway through the first half. He made all five in a little more than nine minutes.
Point guard Travon Woodall added 10 points and 13 assists. Brad Wanamaker had 14 points.
The victory came against a Binghamton (1-1) team that has only seven scholarship players after a turbulent offseason that saw six players dismissed from the team for an assortment of reasons, including their star player being arrested for possessing and selling cocaine.
