Question: I am tired of watching WRs and QBs cry for flags every time they are touched. I think throwing a flag on them for delay of game would go a long way to curb this behavior. Has anyone in the NFL ever considered implementing such a rule?
Tom Turets, Burke, Va.
BOUCHETTE: I'm for fewer flags not more, although seeing wide receivers motion for a flag when they do not catch a pass becomes tiresome. They have taunting rules and delay of game rules -- you cannot spike the ball, for example, in the middle of the field -- but I never heard anyone proposing that one. The mere fact that, as you suggest, that they look like cry babies when they do it should be enough to deter them.
