UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Ohio State kicker Aaron Pettrey will miss Saturday's Big Ten showdown against No. 11 Penn State.
He tore the medial collateral ligament in his right knee in this past weekend's 45-0 rout of New Mexico State.
Pettrey's mother, Lillian, told the Columbus Dispatch today that her son would have season-ending surgery tomorrow, although he hopes to return for a bowl game.
Pettrey, a fifth-year senior, was 13 of 19 on field goals and 28 of 29 on extra points. His 67 points ranked him fourth in the Big Ten in scoring.
Devin Barclay, a junior walk-on, is expected to handle the kicking duties for No. 15 Ohio State against the Nittany Lions. He was 1 of 3 on field goals after replacing Pettrey, hitting from 29 yards, but missing from 47 and 36.
Ben Buchanan, a redshirt freshman, had been Pettrey's backup for kickoffs, but he was ill Saturday and did not dress.
