Q: If Penn State wins out and Iowa loses to Ohio State, will PSU win the Big Ten title and go to the Rose Bowl?
Steven Swanson, Reynoldsburg, Ohio
MUSSELMAN: Steven, it won't matter what Penn State does the rest of the way if Iowa wins out. As it stands now, the Hawkeyes (5-0) control their own destiny as far as winning the Big Ten championship outright and pushing for a berth in the BCS national championship game. Even if Iowa loses to Ohio State (4-1), but wins its other two games, and Penn State (4-1) wins out, creating a tie atop the Big Ten standings, Iowa would go to the Rose Bowl. That's based on the Hawkeyes' head-to-head tiebreaker over the Nittany Lions -- a 21-10 victory at Beaver Stadium in late September.
