Carlow University is canceling day, evening and weekend classes during the G-20 summit and rescheduling them for other days.
Classes will be canceled from 4 p.m. on Sept. 23 through Sept. 27, the school said. All classes will be rescheduled, most during what was to be Carlow's fall break on Oct. 19 and Oct. 20.
The school's proximity to what could be an organizing location for protesters was a factor in the school's decision. Campus residence halls will remain open, and employees will work, though some will do so from off campus.
Classes on Sept. 23 will be rescheduled for Oct. 21. Classes on Sept. 24 and Sept. 25 will be rescheduled for Oct. 19 and 20, respectively. Weekend classes Sept. 26 and 27 will be rescheduled for the preceding weekend, Sept. 19 and 20, the school said. The weekend classes do not meet every weekend.
Also, Carlow has rescheduled several events originally planned for the week of the G-20 summit, including Mercy Founder's Week, which has been moved to the week of Oct. 19, with Mercy Service Day, to be on Oct. 21. Alumnae Reunion Weekend, originally to begin Sept. 25, will be rescheduled for Oct. 16 through 18.
