HOUSE

The House voted 265-166 Wednesday to send to the Senate HR2920, a "pay-as-you-go" statute requiring that tax cuts or new benefit programs be paid for with tax increases or cuts to other programs.

The Senate on Wednesday rejected an amendment that would have made a person's concealed weapon permit valid when he crosses state lines. The vote was 58-39 in favor, but that was two votes short of the 60 needed to pass the amendment to a defense spending bill.

The Senate voted Monday 31-19 to approve a Republican version of House Bill 1416, the state budget bill.
