State police were investigating an accident today in rural Fayette County that resulted in the death of at least one person.

Troopers said the accident occurred on Route 711 in Normalville at 1:49 p.m. today.

Initial reports said two cars collided, but troopers could not confirm that. Investigators still were at the scene late this afternoon.
