State Rep. Marc Gergely has introduced legislation to honor the memory of a White Oak Borough community leader by naming the bridge over Jack's Run Stream where McClintock Road intersects Route 48 as the Milton L. Lebowitz Memorial Bridge.
"Milton Lebowitz was a proud resident of White Oak Borough for more than 40 years," Mr. Gergely said. "He was a dedicated businessman, volunteer, public servant and Korean War veteran who set the bar for accomplishment and commitment to his community, as well as his country."
For more than four decades Mr. Lebowitz was the owner and operator of a dry cleaning business. In the early 1970s he became a member of the White Oak Recreation Board, and he was involved in the development of the Heritage Hill recreation complex.
He served on Borough Council from 1976 through 1983. He later served as mayor from 1998 until his death in 2003.
