Michael Jackson going back to Neverland
Wednesday, July 01, 2009

Michael Jackson will be making one final visit to his beloved Neverland.

Plans are under way to hold a memorial service at the famed estate/amusement park in the hills outside Santa Barbara, the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department told Eonline.com yesterday.

"Our guys are meeting as we speak with the California Highway Patrol to discuss the security issues," says Lt. Butch Arnoldi, a department spokesman.

Sources close to the family say that there will be some kind of public memorial over the holiday weekend, perhaps with Jackson's body lying in state.

The body is expected to be transported from Los Angeles tomorrow. A public viewing will take place Friday and a private memorial service will be held Sunday.

Jackson's brothers Jackie, Jermaine and Tito visited the grounds over the weekend and earlier yesterday a delivery truck was spotted dropping off boxes at Neverland.

The South Side's Diesel Club Lounge, 1601 E. Carson St., will memorialize the King of Pop tonight from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m. The event will include local Michael Jackson impersonator Tony Jezzi, an evening of music dedicated to Jackson's greatest hits and a video tribute on the club's 16-foot-high projection screen.

There's no cover charge. Barcardi Flavors are $2.50, domestic beers $1.50 and selected bottle service $101. DJ Showtime will be spinning live and B94's Kobe will stop by from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. Information: Diesel at 412-431-8800. For bottle service reservations, contact Chuck at 412-651-4713.

West Homestead native Jeff Goldblum pronounced himself dead, then eulogized his life Monday night on "The Colbert Report." As part of a skit, host Stephen Colbert ran a New Zealand TV news report claiming the actor had fallen to his death in an on-set accident. Colbert argued with Goldblum -- who was standing beside him onstage -- that if bloggers and tweets say someone's dead, it must be so. In another TV report, a New Zealand police source confirmed Goldblum's death.

Faced with that overwhelming evidence, Goldblum. of "Jurassic Park" and "Independence Day" fame, agreed that he must, indeed, be deceased, and proceeded to deliver his own eulogy. He dwelled a bit on his prowess in bed and said how much he'd be missed, particularly by fans of his current TV show, "Law & Order: Criminal Intent." Then, he walked toward the "light" (an EXIT sign) and was gone.
