Parente Randolph appointed David Capitano practice leader for its higher education group.

Phyllis Parise Simon joined Cottrill, Arbutina Professional Services, and will advise small business clients on a range of accounting and financial record-keeping.

Associations & Organizations

Sam Liberto, chief executive, ThoughtDrivers, was elected president of the Pittsburgh Petroleum Association. Mr. Liberto will be responsible for overseeing the organization's activities, including representing the group in its public outreach activities; presiding over board of directors meetings, recruitment and retention; and providing members with maximum value for their PPA involvement.

The Epilepsy Foundation elected Joyce Bender, CEO/president, Bender Consulting Services Inc., its new chair for a two-year term.

Tricia Warrick, managing director, Schneider Downs Corporate Finance LP, was named president of the Association of Corporate Growth's Pittsburgh Chapter.

Clara Spatafore, D.D.S., M.S., was named president-elect of the American Society of Endodontists. Dr. Spatafore is a full-time private practitioner in Pittsburgh who also is an assistant professor of endodontics at Drexel University's School of Medicine.

The Construction Legislative Council of Western Pennsylvania elected officers for the 2009/2010. Chairman: Joe Fecek, American Society of Civil Engineers; vice-chairman: Paula Maynes, American Institute of Architects, Pittsburgh Chapter; treasurer: Michel Sadaka, Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers; and secretary: Jon O'Brien, Master Builders' Association of Western PA.

Banking & Finance

First Commonwealth Financial Corp. hired several new business bankers at First Commonwealth Bank: Cheryl Belsterling, Robinson Township office; David Carcy, Bloomfield office; Richard Clark, Smithfield Street office; and Kevin Soles and Matt Zuro, Wexford office.

Broadcasting

Clear Channel Radio promoted John Rohm to president/market manager of its six-station Philadelphia cluster. Mr. Rohm will continue to manage its Pittsburgh radio stations while adding Philadelphia to his area of supervision.

Consulting

GSP Consulting hired Tim Hindes as grants manager and creative director.

Education

Community Day School named Samantha Rothaus director of development and marketing and Tim Richart assistant director of development and marketing.

Energy

EXCO -- North Coast Energy Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of EXCO Resources Inc., hired Larry M. Sanders as regulatory manager and Kim Anthony as regulatory clerk in its Cranberry office.

Investments

Frank J. Aiello joined the Pittsburgh office of Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. as a financial adviser.

Law

Tucker Arensberg said Bethany Miller joined as an associate attorney in the litigation practice group.

John A. Barbour was named CEO and chairman of the board at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney He will serve in this role for a three-year term.

The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy appointed four new directors to its board: Geoffrey Dunn, of Erie, is a trustee of the Erie Community Foundation and serves on Penn State Behrend's local advisory board; Dan Nydick, an entrepreneur; Michael Polite, president of Ralph A. Falbo Inc.; and Carolyn Rizza, professor emerita of Slippery Rock University.

Erin Roman was appointed unit manager/quality assurance nurse in the Oertel Care Center on the Concordia at Cabot campus.
