Architect Frederick Osterling coordinated the library and sitting room???s golden oak woodwork with stenciled and painted wall fabric and plush portieres during Clayton's major 1892 remodeling. The Frick family and a few special friends gathered in this retreat on Clayton's second floor to read, write letters, and play games such as checkers, backgammon, and dominoes.
