Pittsburgh Revolution / Steve Mellon
New Granada Theater, Hill District
To explore, click and drag inside image

The New Granada Theater was built in 1928 as a lodge for the Knights of Pythian, but in the 1930s it became an entertainment venue where you could catch movies or jazz greats like Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie and Ella Fitzgerald. These days it's a damaged but proud reminder of the Hill District's glory days. Work crews are making repairs to the roof and masonry to stop further deterioration.
