Science Center to make co-directors permanent

Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh today named Ann M. Metzger and Ronald J. Baillie co-directors of Carnegie Science Center.

The two senior managers had been serving as acting co-directors since the departure of Joanna Haas in July. They will now lead the center through the opening of its new Roboworld exhibition the reopening of the SportsWorks attraction in a new building.

"Ann Metzger and Ron Baillie are simply an unbeatable combination," said David Hillenbrand, president of Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh. "After an extensive national search -- and, after five months with Ann and Ron at the helm -- we realized we already had the ideal management team in place."

Ms. Metzger joined the Science Center in 2006 as director of marketing and community affairs.

Mr. Baillie is a lifelong educator who began his career as a math and science teacher before joining Buhl Planetarium in 1983 as director of exhibits, programs, and technical services. He served as the Science Center's Director of Education for 10 years.
