Steely McBeam greeted guests at the front door. Inside a replica of Mister Rogers Neighborhood was among the famous local memorabilia on display when the Pittsburgh Public Theater kicked off its 34th season with a Black & Gold Birthday Party. The bash on Sept. 5 also served as a celebration for the upcoming publication of "The Chief," the play about Art Rooney Sr., written by Rob Zellers and Post-Gazette sports columnist Gene Collier. They signed copies along with Tom Atkins, who has made the role of Rooney his own since it debuted at the Public in 2003. Festive 'Burgh fare included chipped ham and kielbasa along with a tasting of Pittsburgh 250 wines provided by Dreadnought. The fabulous Jimmy Sapienza and Five Guys Named Moe set the tone for a nostalgic night. Yunz should of been there!
