The new Grant Street Transportation Center in Downtown is scheduled to open Sept. 29. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will mark the official opening of the building at 10 a.m.
Plans for the new building, designed by the Downtown firm IKM Inc., began in 2003. Cost of construction of the 525,000-square-foot center -- more than triple the size of the previous terminal -- has been estimated at $37 million.
Since the demolition of the old Greyhound bus terminal in 2006, the bus company has operated out of a temporary facility at the parking authority's Second Avenue lot.
The Grant Street Transportation Center will contain the new Greyhound terminal and a 1,050-car parking garage.
