Man wounded after home invasion
Sunday, July 06, 2008

A man shot in the leg in Oakland yesterday turned out to be the suspect in a home invasion just minutes earlier.

Police received a call about 1:15 p.m. for a home invasion at 221 Atwood St. Then, shots were fired in the 200 block of McKee Place, about three blocks away.

Later, police were alerted to a man, Richard Kennedy, 19, of Clairton, receiving treatment at Magee-Womens Hospital for a bullet wound in his leg. Under questioning, Mr. Kennedy admitted to being one of two men involved in the home invasion, police said, but police were unsure how the shooting occurred.

Mr. Kennedy was treated for his wound and taken to the Allegheny County Jail.
