Friday, July 04, 2008

MILWAUKEE -- Tom Gorzelanny had another rough start in the Pirates' 9-1 loss to Milwaukee in front of a sellout crowd of 41,463 at Miller Park.

Gorzelanny didn't get out of the fifth inning, allowing 11 hits, four walks (all in the fifth inning) and eight runs (seven earned).

Milwaukee's five-run fifth inning did in Gorzelanny, who began the inning by walking pitcher Ben Sheets.

Brewer shortstop J.J. Hardy, who had four hits Thursday in Phoenix, had four more today.

Jack Wilson, Jason Bay and Xavier Nady each had two hits for the Pirates, who were 1 for 12 with runners in scoring position.

More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
