The Montour Church Road overpass of Route 22/30 in North Fayette likely will remain closed for repairs until next week, affecting traffic movements at the Steubenville Pike/Tonidale interchange near the Parkway West.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation closed the structure Tuesday after crews identified a crack in a beam, believed to be caused by an overheight truck that left the scene.

Eastbound and westbound traffic on Route 22/30 is restricted to a single lane during the repair work, which was occurring round-the-clock. The township owns Montour Church Road but PennDOT owns the overpass.

PennDOT said engineers have been designing a new structure with more overhead clearance, but construction will not take place until 2010.
