Holiday closings listed; no parkway work this weekend

All federal, state, county and city government offices, post offices and state liquor stores will be closed tomorrow in observance of the Fourth of July holiday.

Garbage will not be collected in the city, and trash pickups will be delayed by one day this week.

Banks will be closed. There will be no mail delivery or collection, but Express Mail will be delivered.

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation driver's license and photo centers are closed.

Port Authority buses and the T will operate on holiday schedules.

Point State Park will be closed from the Block House to the fountain tomorrow for the 9:30 p.m. fireworks show, which will be staged from the Allegheny River nearby.

The Clemente Bridge will be closed from 8 a.m. tomorrow through 4 a.m. Saturday for the All American Bridge Celebration.

In some good news for travelers, no work will take place this weekend on the Parkway East/I-376 reconstruction project.

The Port Authority will provide extra rail service for tomorrow's Downtown fireworks and Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta events. The extra two-car trains will start operating at 2 p.m. on the 47S South Hills Village via Overbrook line.

Shuttle buses will operate between the lower and upper station of the Mon Incline from 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. to handle extra visitors heading to Mount Washington to view the fireworks.
