Replacing I-70 bridge
Thursday, July 03, 2008

Engineers are finalizing plans to replace the four-lane bridge that carries I-70 over Zediker Station Road in South Strabane on the stretch of the highway that will be resurfaced starting this month.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation won't be ready to start construction before next year at the earliest, however.

A public "open house" to discuss the design and traffic disruptions will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the South Strabane Municipal Building at 550 Washington Road.

When work is under way, PennDOT plans to maintain two lanes of traffic in both directions on I-70 most of the time. But a detour will be in place for users of Zediker Station Road and nearby Rankin Road in 2010, with Lakeview Drive serving as the detour.
