ART

Homestead -- Steel Valley Arts Council will present a Collective Images exhibit featuring four emerging artists Saturday through July 30 at artspace 105, located at 105 E. Eighth Ave., next to the Grays Bridge. Gallery hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The artists -- Steve Borsch and siblings Tim, Jennifer and Jessica Droschak-- are graduates of Steel Valley High School. An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, and a gallery talk with the artists is scheduled for 6 p.m. July 26.

South Side -- The nonprofit Silver Eye Center for Photography, 1015 E. Carson St., offers the exhibit, "250 Years of Plants: Photographs by Regional Photographers," through Sept. 13. The exhibit of works by 16 Western Pennsylvania photographers is open from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday or by appointment. Admission is free. FAIRS & FESTIVALS

Brentwood -- Brentwood Volunteer Fire Department and Brentwood Business Owners Association will co-host the borough's 2008 Street Fair and Battle of the Barrel from 6 to 8 p.m. today along Brownsville Road from Hillson to Hillman streets. The fair will include live music, food, giveaways and activities for children. During the barrel battle at the municipal building, hometown firefighters will entertain with fire hose skills as they compete with other local companies. Before the fair, the BlueStar Drum & Bugle Corps will perform at 5 p.m. in front of the library. For information, call Robin at 412-884-6000.

Brookline -- Church of the Resurrection, 1100 Creedmoor Ave., will hold its annual Fun Flair Festival, rain or shine, from 7 to 11 p.m. Wednesday to July 12. Full-course dinners will be offered from 4 to 7 p.m. each night, plus funnel cakes, speciality booths, a moonwalk, ice cream parlor, bingo, ticket auction, a gold fish garage sale, card games and more. FUND-RAISERS

Mt. Lebanon -- The nonprofit McCaffery Mysteries Inc. will present "It's My Party ... And I'll Die If I Want To!," a murder mystery dinner show, at 7 p.m. July 19 at Gaetano's Restaurant, 1617 Banksville Road. Tickets, $27.50. Other shows: Aug 2, 16; Sept. 13, 27. GOLF

Peters -- The 10th annual Achieva Million Dollar Golf outing is set for Aug. 25 at Valley Brook Country Club, 869 Hidden Valley Road. Registration and complimentary driving range is at 9:30 a.m.; brunch, 10:30 a.m.; shotgun start, 11:45 a.m.; golf challenge, 5:30 p.m.; and dinner, prizes and awards, 6:30 p.m. Five golfers will be randomly selected to compete for the Million Dollar Hole-in-One prize. • Stuffed Animal Sleepover, next Thursday. Children age 4 and older can bring a stuffed animal to the library between 1 and 5 p.m. and let it sleep overnight at the library. They can pick up their stuffed animal at 1 p.m. July 11 and have lunch with it.

• A visit to South Park Children's Theatre, 10 a.m. or 6:30 p.m. July 15. Meet at the theater to watch "Jungle Book." Tickets are courtesy of the Friends of the Community Library of Castle Shannon.

RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES

Brentwood -- St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 4048 Brownsville Road, will hold vacation Bible school from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through July 11. The theme will be Son World, Adventure Park. Peters -- Peters Township Parks and Recreation will host a free Senior Summer Picnic for age 55 and older from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Peterswood Park, Shelter No. 4. At 3:30 p.m., Washington County Commissioner Bracken Burns will explore the facts, myths and traditions surrounding the American flag. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided.
