A man was killed Sunday in Westmoreland County when a tree fell on his car during a thunderstorm.

Ronald Bates, of Greensburg, was pronounced dead at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital of injuries suffered when the tree crushed his car.

The accident happened around 6 p.m. along Greensburg/Mount Pleasant Road in Unity, near the Westmoreland County Fairgrounds.
