Lawrence County motorcycle crash kills man, 65
Friday, June 27, 2008

A helmetless motorcycle rider was killed Wednesday night when he crashed into a guide rail on the Route 422 bypass in Taylor, Lawrence County.

State police said the rider, Raymond E. Spangler, 65, of West Middlesex, was traveling west on the bypass at 8:45 p.m. when his bike struck a guide rail at Route 168.

The impact flung Mr. Spangler, and his motorcycle continued to travel more than 50 yards across both lanes and onto the berm. Several passing motorists who stopped were unable to assist Mr. Spangler, state police said.

He suffered multiple trauma, and was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Richard Johnson.
