Robinson library

Due to programming on Wednesdays and Thursdays, the library will be open longer hours on both days through the end of next month.

The hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays.

The library, in the municipal building on Church Hill Road, also is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays and Fridays, 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

Crafton celebrates

The 33rd Crafton Celebrates parade starts at 6:30 p.m. Monday on Bradford Avenue and winds its way through the streets of Crafton to the park on Steuben Street.

The parade will feature community groups, fire trucks, Shriner cars, horses, bands and music.

In Crafton Park, Crafton Celebrates will feature game and food booths open from 6 to 11 p.m. through July 4. On that day, the festival opens at 3.

This year, there will be an expanded entertainment area with new inflatables, including horse racing and a mechanical bull ride. Bingo will be held nightly and the adult gaming area will have its own tent.

Free entertainment starts at 6 each night. Feature groups are Kardaz (oldies) on Monday; The Soft Winds (doo-wop) on Tuesday; Jill West and Blues Attack (blues) on Wednesday; Total Recall (Motown) on July 3; and Dallas Marks (country) on July 4.

On the 4th, the Thomas J. Witt Memorial 5K run/walk will begin with registration at 7 a.m. in the park. Participants will receive a T-shirt and medals will be awarded for various age group winners.

The Crafton Area Food Bank will have a booth to collect nonperishables to benefit local families. Individuals attending the fireworks show are asked to bring one food item.

Crafton Celebrates will be greener this year, thanks to Boy Scout Brandon Wolfe, of Troop 148. His Eagle Scout project involves collecting and recycling the 20-oz. plastic bottles sold for beverages. Recycling containers will be located throughout Crafton Park.

Brandon will coordinate clean-up and pick-up of the plastic bottles daily. The containers remain in the park throughout the summer.
