Yesterday was the last day of school for the Pittsburgh Public Schools. At 11:30 last night, as I was preparing for bed, I looked out a window and saw 15 or more young people gathered at the street corner.
Every summer, and sometimes during the months between, some folks lament that our young people don't have enough to do. Apparently that's true for those I saw last night. If they were sufficiently busy at, say, 2 p.m., then by 11:30 they would have been glad to fall into bed.
But even if they don't have enough to do during the day, I wonder why they're on the street at that hour of the night, instead of at home watching TV or playing videogames or reading.
Are there any readers under 21 who would like to tell us about this?
