Paterno treated for dehydration
Thursday, May 15, 2008

Joe Paterno is being treated at Mount Nittany Medical Center for an apparent case of dehydration but he is expected to be released this evening, according to Guido D'Elia, who is a spokesman for the team. D'Elia told the Associated Press that Paterno was set to be released at about 6 p.m. after he passed a stress test.

Paterno, 81, was feeling nauseated this morning and was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he has undergone a series of tests to rule out any serious problems involving his heart. D'Elia said Paterno was anxious to get home.

A spokesperson for the athletic department acknowledged earlier today that he was sent to the hospital but said that his condition was not serious. He is still expected to make a planned trip to Austin, Texas tomorrow for a dinner with Texas coach Mack Brown.

Penn State quarterbacks coach Jay Paterno told the Associated Press "it is no big deal, it it's dehydration, he's probably all talked out."
