Festivities leading up to Jimmy Stewart's birthday party on May 24 kick off Sunday with an 11 a.m. special worship service honoring the actor and the arts at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 695 School St.
At 2 p.m. that day, the Historical and Genealogical Society of Indiana County, 621 Wayne Ave., hosts an opening reception for a special exhibit, "The Stewart Family Collections."
Location: Museum and courthouse plazas, 835 Philadelphia St. Guests are invited to bring a picnic lunch for the courthouse lawn.
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Various strolling entertainment and Boy Scout exhibits (Scout Village).
10 a.m. to 12:50 p.m.: Various bands and singing groups perform.
11 a.m: Indiana Mid-Day Rotary presents The Centennial Cake and Pie Contest winners at the museum theater.
Noon: Special centennial station stamp cancellation and commemorative issue sale, at the USPS mobile station truck on Philadelphia Street.
12:15 p.m.: At the museum theater, the students of Eisenhower School will make a special birthday gift presentation to Kelly and Judy Stewart.
1 p.m.: Program and dedication at the museum plaza. Including:
Air Force flyover, Air Force Ceremonial Brass Band and Color Guard.
Presentation of James Stewart Military Medal Display.
Dedication of the new entrance canopy, gift of Rich and Marie Little.
Centennial proclamations, etc. Group presentation of the Jimmy Stewart Good Citizenship Award for the Boy Scouts of America, presented to a group of local Scouts.
Martin's Food Store presents the Centennial Birthday Cake.
6 p.m.: The Harvey Award Dinner at the Indiana Country Club, $135 per person (call the museum for reservations).
