A Bethel Park chiropractor has been sentenced to a year of home detention on electronic monitoring for not filing tax returns for 2000 and 2001.
U.S. District Judge Arthur J. Schwab on Friday also ordered Gerald E. Marcinak, 47, owner of Bethel Park Chiropractic since 1985, to pay a $20,000 fine and perform 100 hours of community service every year for four years after his home detention is over.
According to the Criminal Investigation Division of the Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Marcinak had gross income of $155,364 in 2000 and $193,708 in 2001 but didn't file a return for either year.
He pleaded guilty in February and has since said he failed to file because he was overwhelmed in trying to run two chiropractic clinics in Bethel Park and South Park while caring for his sick parents and raising three children.
