Six people were killed yesterday afternoon in Erie County when the minivan in which they were riding eastbound on Interstate 90 crossed over a grass median and into the westbound lane, where it struck another vehicle.
The six victims were pronounced dead at the scene and a seventh passenger survived. That person's injuries and those of the driver of the other car were not immediately known.
State police closed I-90 westbound from Exit 6 to Exit 3. Westbound traffic was being diverted onto Route 20.
