ART

Brownsville -- An exhibition of the work of Ray W. Forquer, who has been named 2008 Artist of the Pike by the Frank L. Melega Art Museum, will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. next Sunday at the museum, 69 Market St. Other times are by appointment. Call 724-785-9331.

CONCERTS

North Strabane -- Canon-McMillan High School Band will present its spring concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the auditorium. Tickets are $2 at the door.

FESTIVALS

Waynesburg -- The annual Sheep & Fiber Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. next Sunday on High Street. It includes a juried craft show and sale, demonstrations, a pedal tractor pull, a lamb cook-off, music, a photo contest, children's activities and more. Admission is free. FOR PARENTS

Peters -- Representatives of the nowU Pennsylvania 529 Guaranteed Savings Plan will provide information for parents at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Peters Township Public Library, 616 E. McMurray Road. The plan is a low-cost way to fund higher education.

PETS

Monongahela -- The annual Monongahela Area Revitalization Corp. Pooch Parade will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, beginning at Third and Main streets and proceeding to Chess Park. Awards will be given for the smallest, biggest, best costume, best trick, best look-a-like and best in show. Entry is $5. A ticket auction will be held in the park.

Peters -- A dog obedience class will be held at noon Saturday in Peterswood Park Amphitheater, sponsored by the Peters Township Park and Recreation Department. Dogs must be at least 3 months old. Handlers must be at least 16. For information, call 724-942-3134.

SALES

California -- The California Area Historical Society will hold a porch sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Gallagher House, 429 Wood St.

SOCIAL

Peters -- WOMEN of Southwestern PA will hold a social program at 6 p.m. May 22 at Little Lake Theater, McDonald Lane, and then attend the play, "Duck Hunter Shoots Angel." Dinner and play are $36.75. Play only is $13.50. Nonmembers are welcome. RSVP by Friday at 724-942-3058.

WORKSHOPS

Nottingham -- Washington County Parks and Recreation Department will hold a Needle and Yarn Craft Workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Shelter 4 in Mingo Creek County Park. Cost is $1. Refreshments will be provided. Call 724-228-6867 for needed materials and registration.

Waynesburg -- "Improving Transition Times," a workshop for parents and early childhood practitioners, will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in Greene County Cooperative Extension, 26 W.
