Pitt, Robert Morris and West Virginia women's basketball head to NCAA's
Monday, March 17, 2008

The women's basketball teams from Pitt, Robert Morris and West Virginia already had their tickets punched for the NCAA women's tournament.

They just didn't know their respective destinations until this evening when the NCAA unveiled the brackets for the women's field of 64.

Pitt and West Virginia could double up on airfare -- both teams were placed in the Spokane regional and will play Saturday in Albuquerque, N.M.

Pitt (22-10) garnered a no. 6 seed in the region and will play no. 11 Wyoming (24-6); West Virginia (24-7) landed a no. 5 seed and will face no. 12 seed and host team New Mexico (20-12).

Robert Morris (23-9) is seeded no. 15 in the Greensboro region and plays no. 2 seed Rutgers (24-6) Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa. Rutgers lost in the National Championship game last year to Tennessee.

The 2008 NCAA women's Final Four and National Championship will be played in Tampa.
