Space shuttle, astronaut Frick, land safely in Fla.
Wednesday, February 20, 2008

Space shuttle Atlantis, commanded by Richland native Stephen Frick, landed this morning at Kennedy Space Center in Florida after a visit to the International Space Station.

The space shuttle and its seven astronauts touched down just after 9:07 a.m. after a mission to the space station to install the European science lab, Columbus.

Mission Control earlier this morning told Capt. Frick that the landing weather was close to ideal, with just thin clouds and a slight tailwind. "Great news," Frick said, right before Atlantis fired its braking rockets to bring it home.

Atlantis orbited Earth 202 times during its mission that began Feb. 7.
