Maybe next decade, Don Corleone.
"Citizen Kane" is still king of a new American Film Institute list of the 100 greatest movies. The second and third movies from a 1998 roster, however, swapped places, with "The Godfather" now No. 2 and "Casablanca," No. 3.

Rounding out the top 10 behind "Citizen Kane," "Godfather" and "Casablanca" were: "Raging Bull," "Singin' in the Rain," "Gone With the Wind," "Lawrence of Arabia," "Schindler's List," "Vertigo" and "The Wizard of Oz."
Of 43 newly eligible movies, only four passed muster to make the list: "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring," No. 50; "Saving Private Ryan," 71; "Titanic," 83; and "The Sixth Sense," 89.
Lots of cinematic contenders, both Oscar winners and fan favorites, were left out in the cold, including "L.A. Confidential," "Gladiator," "Memento," "Chicago," "Shrek" and "Spider-Man 2." AFI will repeat this exercise in another decade, so those movies will have another chance to see if they stand the test of time.
It was a very good night, however, for fans of "Raging Bull," which jumped from No. 24 to 4, and "Vertigo," which rocketed from No. 61 to 9. The John Ford western "The Searchers," however, took the express elevator from No. 96 to No. 12.
New on the list: "The General," "Intolerance," "Nashville," "Sullivan's Travels," "Cabaret," "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" "The Shawshank Redemption," "In the Heat of the Night," "All the President's Men," "Spartacus," "Sunrise," "A Night at the Opera," "12 Angry Men," "Swing Time," "Sophie's Choice," "The Last Picture Show," "Do the Right Thing," "Blade Runner" and "Toy Story."
Some film faithful may be scratching their heads over where certain movies landed this time around or why they fell off the radar. Newbie "The Sixth Sense" was ranked higher than "The French Connection" or "Do the Right Thing" (omitted entirely in 1998) while "Ben-Hur" and its chariots came in dead last at 100.
"From Here to Eternity," which ranked 52nd on the previous list, was among nearly two dozen movies bounced. Other notables now gone include "Doctor Zhivago," "Rebel Without a Cause," "The Manchurian Candidate" and "Giant."
