A regional planning commission today overwhelmingly approved a transfer of $25 million in state funds to the Port Authority of Allegheny County to get it through the rest of the fiscal year.
The transfer, approved 47-2 by the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission, allows the transit agency to make it through June without the fare increase and service cuts it had planned.
The action comes a day after the commission's eastern Pennsylvania counterpart, the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission, approved a similar transfer to Philadelphia's transit agency.
More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
