Newspapers in Education

NIE Programs

General NIE orders

Teachers may order newspapers at a discounted rate for general classroom use. When ordered in sets of 5 or more per delivery, the educational rate is 2 cents per daily and 4 cents per Sunday newspaper. Newspapers can be ordered for any length of time and for any combination of days, Sunday through Friday. For example, one teacher may want 5 copies delivered Monday through Friday from September through June, while another may want 25 copies of the Monday newspaper from October through March. The General NIE program accommodates the teacher, allowing for specific days of delivery and variable numbers of newspapers.

To order newspapers, order online using our Order Form or send your purchase order to the Educational Services Department, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, P.O. Box 566, Pittsburgh, PA 15230. For all orders, please allow three to five business days for processing. If you have any questions or delivery problems, contact us at nie2@post-gazette.com.
Electronic Editions of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

During the 2008-2009 school year, we introduced the electronic edition (e edition) in area schools. We will continue to provide e editions this year, seven days a week.

Educators whose school districts pay for their newspapers will be able to order printed copies or electronic editions of the Post-Gazette. All sponsored copies of the newspaper will be provided at a ratio of 25% printed copies and 75% electronic editions for schools that continue to have delivery of the printed Post-Gazette. Therefore, if a teacher receives 25 sponsored copies of the Monday through Friday and Sunday Post-Gazette and has print delivery, that teacher will receive 5 printed newspapers and 20 electronic editions each delivery day. If the school does not have print delivery, each teacher will receive 30 electronic editions of the Post-Gazette.
Ordering NIE programs for the 2009-2010 school year

This year, teachers will be able to order sponsored copies of the Post-Gazette (25% printed copies and 75% electronic editions) from September through December and again from January through May, and have access to all the curriculum guides for the programs that run during both of those time periods.
