Kellyanne Conway, counselor to President Donald Trump, will be in Allegheny County Thursday to attend the local Republican Party’s annual Spirit of Lincoln Dinner.
The high-profile guest’s visit may be a relatively quiet one: the press release noted “There will be no formal remarks or press availability after the program.”
Ms. Conway twice violated the Hatch Act, which forbids government workers from engaging in political activity in their official capacity, when she advocated for the election of Roy Moore in a Senate race in Alabama over Doug Jones on both Fox and CNN, according to a finding Tuesday of the U.S. Office of Special Counsel. The White House said she did not violate the law, that instead she “expressed the president’s obvious position.”
Ms. Conway will hold a meet-and-greet with local volunteers at the party offices at 4 p.m.
The dinner will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Green Tree, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Other guests at the dinner will include Pittsburgh Pirates President Frank Coonelly, Congressman Keith Rothfus and Congressman Lou Barletta, who is one of three Republicans running for U.S. Senate, state Rep. Rick Saccone, who is running for Congress, and state Sen. Scott Wagner, who is one of three Republicans running for governor.
