A woman and several pets were killed and a firefighter injured in a house fire in McCandless on Monday morning.
Allegheny County emergency officials said fire crews responded just before 6:30 a.m. to the fire in the 8900 block of Knoll Street.
The fire apparently started in an upstairs bedroom, officials told Pittsburgh Post-Gazette news partner KDKA-TV.
The victim was identified as Faye Poshard, 68. Fire crews at the scene said hoarding conditions made it difficult for firefighters to reach her, KDKA reported.
One firefighter was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor burns, according to KDKA.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Further information was not immediately available.
