Man killed in apartment building fire in Kittanning

At least one person was killed in an overnight fire at an apartment building in Kittanning.

The fire was reported around 2:30 a.m. Friday in the 400 block of North Jefferson Street, according to Armstrong County emergency officials.

The county coroner identified the victim as John W. Bodurka, Jr., 69, who was found in his bedroom after the fire was extinguished. Coroner Brian K. Myers determined the cause of death was carbon monoxide asphyxiation and ruled it an accident.

About a dozen residents of the two-story building were evacuated.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
