One hurt, 10 displaced in Tarentum apartment fire

One person was hurt and 10 people were displaced following an overnight apartment fire at a public housing complex in Tarentum, according to Allegheny County emergency officials.

The blaze was reported shortly after 2 a.m. at the Negley Gardens complex in the 800 block of Creek Street. It was contained to one apartment unit.

One woman was treated at the scene for a hand injury.

The residents of the complex, which is operated by the Allegheny County Housing Authority, were evacuated and later allowed back in. The occupants of the damaged unit and others whose units sustained smoke damage had to find temporary housing. The Red Cross assisted four families of 10 people.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
