Woman struck, killed by train identified

A 55-year-old woman died Thursday evening after she was struck by a train in North Braddock.

The Allegheny County medical examiner's office identified the woman as Patricia Clary of Pittsburgh. Her autopsy is scheduled for today.

Authorities said the Norfolk Southern freight train was traveling east when it struck the pedestrian at 6:16 p.m. about a quarter mile west of Fourth Street and Hawkins Avenue.

Ms. Clary had been walking east when she was struck from behind, police said. Officers at the scene said the train’s conductor told police that another person was with the woman when she was struck, but police have been unable to find that person.

Norfolk Southern officials and Allegheny County homicide detectives were investigating.
