Port Authority riders Saturday can begin using the new platforms at the East Liberty Station along the Martin Luther King Jr. East Busway.
The station is being rebuilt as part of the broader East Liberty Transit Center project managed by the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh. The transit center will include a parking garage, an additional pedestrian bridge, residential and commercial space and a storage area for bicycles.
In a news release, the Port Authority said it expects the transition to the new platforms will cause minimal disruption for riders. Machines for ConnectCards will be moved to the new station but are not ready for customer use.
